There are four types of cross-country ski boots available: touring or hiking boots, classic style, skating, and all-purpose combi boots. Classic boots are lower and with soft soles, skating boots are higher, with ankle stabilizer and solid soles, for combi boots the parts of the ankle are the same as for a skating boot, but the sole is soft, so you can make a breakthrough in the classic step too. Touring boots are low to the ground and with a soft sole and basically very similar to the classical boots.
