Which High5 gel to choose: EnergyGel Plus or IsoGel Plus? Both types of gel do the same job. However, IsoGel Plus has a lighter consistency somewhere between a drink and a gel.EnergyGel Plus has a slightly thicker consistency, but is less bulky and lighter in weight, which makes it easier to carry in larger quantities.
Please consider the environment and keep the countryside clean by taking your empty gel wrappers with you after use. We can also recommend using a gel flask to carry your gel on a ride or run so you don’t end up with empty gel wrapper during exercise.
Gel Belt and Race Belt for carrying gel during the run are available separately.
2:1 FRUCTOSE GEL
High5 DO NOT produce a 2:1 fructose gel. We believe that there is little real world benefit to such a gel for most athletes. The advantage of 2:1 is that you can potentially consume more carbohydrate (up to 90g per hour), but you would need to take 4 gels an hour to realise that benefit. The Glasgow University research tells us that Marathon runners will generally only take 2 to 3 gels per hour (46g to 69g of carbohydrate), even when instructed to consume more. This inability to consume 4 gels per hour negates the main benefits of a 2:1 gel formulation. So there is little upside to a 2:1 gel, but there is a major downside. A high fructose 2:1 gel would be very sweet, when athletes tell us time and again that they want a non-sickly gel.
DOSAGE & USAGE
Take up to 3 sachets per hour, less if you are also using a sports drink. For more detailed information on how to fuel your sport, read our Nutrition Guides.
Note: very occasionally some athletes find that caffeine can increase cramp, so always try EnergyGel Plus in training before racing. If there is a problem, then simply switch to using standard EnergyGel.

About SiS GO Isotonic Gels
The SiS GO Isotonic Gel was the world’s first isotonic gel effectively delivering an easily digestible and quick supply of carbohydrate for energy during exercise. SiS GO Gels are designed to be consumed without water meaning that you can ensure rapid delivery of carbohydrate to your muscles without the feelings of being bloated that can sometimes occur with over-drinking.
Why should I take this gel?
Depleting your carbohydrate stores during exercise is one of the major causes of fatigue. In addition to ensuring optimal carbohydrate stores before exercise, delivering additional carbohydrate during exercise is known to improve performance, race times and delay the onset of fatigue. As such, SiS GO Isotonic Gels represent a highly practical solution to your in-training and competition fuelling strategy by providing you with a quick supply of 20 grams of carbohydrate per gel. Gels can easily be carried in your pocket or your race belt without the requirement for bulky bottles.
Consume 1-3 gels per hour to deliver approximately 60 grams of carbohydrate and maximize carbohydrate utilization rates. Where hydration is also important, SiS GO Isotonic Gels can also be consumed with SiS GO Hydro or with SiS GO Electrolyte to ensure a combination of both energy and fluid delivery during exercise.
